Michael Duncan

Film & TV Music Composer

Michael Duncan is a New York City–based composer for film and television, drawing on years of experience sculpting sound into imaginative, textured music.

He began his career interning at Headgear Recording before moving on to assist producers and engineers Dan Romer, John Siket, and Andrew Maury across many albums. That time continues to inform his work to this day, fostering an approach deeply rooted in collaboration, craftsmanship, and creativity.

Over the years, Michael has helped record and mix a wide range of artists, including Ra Ra Riot, High Highs, Atlas Genius, Jenny Owen Youngs, Static Jacks, Farah Siraj, Spencer Ludwig, Andy Suzuki & the Method, Paper Lions, Cruisr, and Joshua Winstead (of Metric), among others.

His work extends into television as well, with music appearing in series such as Shameless, Nurse Jackie, Broad City, Nashville, Faking It, and One Tree Hill.

Prior to this, Michael spent over a decade at United Stations Radio Networks, serving as an audio archivist and assistant broadcast engineer. His time there included engineering Nights with Alice Cooper during the holidays, contributing to podcasts like Alice Cooper’s Vintage Vault, and archiving thousands of interviews with legendary musicians.

Michael graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music with a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition for Film, Television, and Games. A recipient of the Ed Cherney Scholarship, he studied under composer Patrick Kirst (The Kissing Booth, Woman of the Dead), orchestrators Vicente Avella (Family Guy, American Dad) and George Oldziey (Sin City, Kill Bill Vol. 2), and former producer/engineer Susan Rogers (Prince, David Byrne).
